Created in Photoshop CS4. About 5 hours of work. I made this image as a sequel to my first image, We Are ODST[link] . I wanted to create an image with both of the main actors that were in the game Halo 3: ODST. Using imagery found free, I manipulated them into this image.
This was one of my first large scale images, "print ready" if you will. Feel free to leave feedback as you see fit. I'm open to interpretation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Having played the game several times and enjoying the storyline and content I was happy to see this fan art.
On the context of Vision - I gave it 4.5 stars. It is well displayed and not something that you can see a dime a dozen of on dA. This is the title for Halo that not many people seem to know about. Sure people have played it, but it likely is not the first to come to memory when asked... "What was your favorite Halo?"
On Originality - I rated it a 4, yes it is nicely put together, but from images already created. There is some skill in manipulating images that already exist to fit, but you can never beat drawing it yourself.
On Technique - I rated it a 4.5, partially due to the time frame it was done in. The work is good for something less than 10 hours. There likely were multiple layers and also several items that required cropping and free transforming to create this. There are some issues I have with the lighting, I know that it is difficult to get good realistic lighting when working in a 2D layered field, but some of the front light does not match the shadows and the intensity of some of the other lights is slightly overpowering.
Lastly...
On Impact - I rated it a 4. It is well done and I like the content. As I noted at the beginning I have played, should also state replayed this Halo version several times. I like the use of the real people in place of the simulated versions. It adds some character to the image. Only thing that would make it more heavy on impact is if they could have had some interesting facial expressions that went with the game personalities.
one of the best ODST images on DA! the shear "aw" of this image is beautiful! i love how the art work is so real and fits the story from the game with the voice acters heads. the detail in this is also not only like a movie poster you'ed see at a movie theater but as well as a DVD cover of a move or a TV show! my favorite part on this is how you put the real voice acters heads in ODST suits and made them all "searise" like! all in all i give this art 10/10 stars!
343 might want to think about rounding up Nathan, Alan, Adam, and Tricia and putting together a live action ODST web series like Bioware did with Dragon Age
